Hebrew and Greek word meaning example (Concordance). The Old Testament was translated out of the Hebrew and the New Testament was translated out of the Greek.
Genesis1:1 "In the beginning". Find the word "beginning" in the concordance as you would in a regular dictionary. Listed under the word "beginning" are all the scriptures pertaining to that word. The Hebrew numbers are in "bold" print and the Greek numbers are in "italics." Then find the scripture Genesis 1:1 (Old Testament) and use the number that's beside that scripture 7225: "Beginning" in the (New Testament) St. John 1:1 the number will be 746. The number used will be determined by the scripture you are referencing. The same word can have a different meaning when it's used somewhere else in scripture. Use the number by the scripture of the word you're defining.
